Kareena-Katrina battle for Shah Rukh's

Katrina Kaif is working with all the three Khans - Salman ('Ek Tha Tiger'), Aamir ('Dhoom 3') and Shah Rukh (Yash Raj's romantic drama also starring Anushka Sharma) - and now there might be more starry associations up ahead for the actress. Apparently, she'd been approached to star in Rohit Shetty's next opposite SRK, but the twist in the tale is that Kareena Kapoor is also supposedly keen on the same role.

Kareena is, of course, a Rohit Shetty favourite, having starred in the 'Golmaal' movies. But Kat's stock has risen tremendously after her consecutive hits ('Mere Brother Ki
Dulhan' and 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara') and it is rumoured that she might be a better fit for the new film from the hotshot 'Singham' director. This new project is believed to be an action thriller.

Meanwhile, Kareena is currently celebrating the success of 'RA.One' in which she starred opposite Shah Rukh. Bebo and SRK are close friends, and he has admitted that she got the heroine's role in his home production simply because she said that she wanted it. Priyanka Chopra and Asin had been considered for the part in the early stages of conceptualisation for 'RA.One'.

So who will win this competition and star in Shah Rukh's next movie? Katrina Kaif or Kareena Kapoor? Watch this space for updates. (masala.com)

Shiney Ahuja wins legal battle against Micromax

Micromax Mobile has withdrawn its controversial 'Bai' ad, which poked fun at Shiney Ahuja, after the actor initiated legal action against the company, said his publicist.

The advertisement took a humorous dig at Shiney, who was convicted two years ago of raping his domestic help and is currently out on bail.

The actor slapped a legal notice on Micromax Mobile late October, contending that the advertisement - in which two 'bais' (servants) poke fun at him - "amounted to wilful character assassination and contempt of court".

"Shiney has challenged his conviction and the Bombay High Court has admitted his appeal, which is currently pending hearing. For the mobile company to air such a commercial influencing public opinion when Shiney's appeal is pending hearing, is equivalent to contempt of court," the actor's publicist, Dale Bhagwagar, said.

Now, Micromax Mobile has sent a reply to Shiney's October notice, stating that the controversial commercial has been withdrawn, Bhagwagar said.

Shiney was arrested June 2009 following charges of rape, wrongful confinement and criminal intimidation, levelled by his maid servant, and spent nearly five months behind bars.

On March 30 this year, he was awarded seven years of imprisonment by a Mumbai fast track court -- but he has challenged the sentence in the Bombay High Court.

Shiney is known for his performances in movies like 'Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi', 'Sins', 'Life In A Metro', 'Woh Lamhe', 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' and 'Gangster - A Love Story', and is awaiting release of forthcoming movies like 'Ek Accident', 'Ghost', 'Chaloo Movie' and 'Har Pal.(MASALA.COM)

Miss Venezuela Ivian Sarcos was Sunday (November 6) evening crowned Miss World 2011, and India's hopes of winning the title for the sixth time came crashing down as Miss India World Kanishtha Dhankhar failed to make it to the top 25.

At an extravagant ceremony at the Earls Court in London, 21-year-old Ivian defeated over 100 beauties from various parts of the world at the 61st Miss World contest.

Miss Philippines Gwendoline Ruais was the first runner-up and Miss Puerto Rico Amanda Perez became the second runner-up.

The gala event kicked off Sunday evening with a dynamic performance by British street dance troup Diversity, followed by the introduction of the Miss World contestants.

It ended with Miss World 2010 Alexandria Mills crowning Sarcos.

The jury included former Miss World winners - Cindy Breakspeare (1976), Nigeria Agbani Darego (2001), Zhang Zilin (2007) and Kaiane Aldorino (2009).

Mumbai-based model Kanishtha has walked the ramp for designers like Rohit Bal and Sabyasachi Mukherjee.

Model-turned-actress Priyanka Chopra was the last Indian model to win the title in 2000.

Tanisha's style gyaan

Tanisha Mukherjee loves to make a style statement. The always fashionably dressed actor tells CS about her five wardrobe must-haves:

1 Skinny jeans
I love my pair of skinny jeans. I can dress them up or down, according to my mood. On a casual day, I just wear them with tees. But they are perfect to wear on a traditional occasion with a kurta.

2 A classic black shirt
It is a necessity. A black shirt will always make you look elegant. You can accessorise it with delicate diamond or gold jewellery or wear chunky stuff depending on the event you're going too. And, it manages to hide those love handles (smiles). Black is the colour for every girl.

3 Summer dress
A light cotton dress in a pastel shade is perfect for those days by the pool or beach when you just want to chill. It makes you feel and look beautiful. My wardrobe is full of such pretty dresses in different colours. Whether you wear them during the day or at an informal evening do with your friends, you look just right.

4 Gold handbag
My gold handbag is a perfect match for my formal wear. It looks good with anything and everytime I carry it, I know that it gets attention. It manages to make my worst days feel good.

5 Black stilettos
A pair of high-heeled black stilettos is a must. I just love wearing heels as it makes your legs look long and shapely, What's best is that you can team them up with anything and never go wrong!

Veena says 'No' to Mohammad Asif

The Pakistani cricketer charged with match-fixing called his ex-flame with a plea to reconcile

Four days before the British courts declared former Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Asif guilty of match-fixing, on October 28, Pakistani actress Veena Malik received a distress call from London telling her to immediately rush to the city to be with him. The actress shared a live-in relationship with him for one and a half years.

Apparently the much-married Asif wanted to mend bridges with Veena. The actress says that the offer was firmly turned down.

Veena says, "It was a mutual friend from, London, Zahid Ali Saab, who called me on October 26 stating that Asif wanted to desperately see me, that he wanted a reconciliation.

I declined. How can I turn back the clock? Asif and I shared a beautiful if stormy relationship. We were together until 2008 when I came to know about his match-fixing activities; I left him."

"Even when we were together I tried to warn him against what he was doing. I am not surprised by the court's verdict. But I am sad for him," she adds.

Was the offer to return to the beleaguered cricketer tempting? "I can't deny I still have feelings for him. Relationships don't die," admits the actress, and adds, "I've no hard feelings about any of my former boyfriends. My time with Asif was special. But I've moved on."

Speaking about her ex-beau's wife, Veena says, "Asif is a happily married man. I know his wife Sanaa. In fact, when they were getting married, she called me up to find out about my relationship with Asif. I told her to please go ahead with the marriage."

Veena says getting involved with a married man is a complete no-no for her. "I'd never do that to another woman."

In fact, to avoid any temptation, Veena says she even cancelled her trip to England. "I was supposed to be there this week for an event. It's best not to create situations where things can go out of hand."

Divine blessings for 'The Dirty Picture'

Reportedly, Ekta Kapoor will pray at four religious shrines for the success of her next film

The superstitious Ekta Kapoor is leaving no stone unturned in making sure her next project The Dirty Picture tastes success at the Box office. The producer will be visiting not one, but four shrines in different parts of the country to seek divine intervention.
An insider at Kapoor's production house tells us that Ekta will be visiting the shrines between November 15 and 28. In the meanwhile director Milan Luthria, Emraan Hashmi, Vidya Balan and Tusshar Kapoor will be promoting the film.

According to the source, "First, she will head to Ajmer Sharif, and a day after returning from there, she will go to the Kali Ghat temple in Kolkata. Since Guwahati is closer from there, she will head to Kamakhya Devi temple before returning to Mumbai. At last, Ekta will go to Tiruparti Balaji."

"It's not only ironical, but also the exact opposite in terms of the context of the movie's subject," conceded our source.

Although she has denied being superstitious, Ekta has steadfastly maintained that she belongs to a religious family and it's only normal for them to pray to the deities before starting a new venture. A devotee of Lord Balaji, she always flies down to Tirupati before the release of a new project.|(Mid-day)

Saif's 'Agent Vinod' shoot remains stalled

Photo: Masala.com
The shooting of Saif Ali Khan's 'Agent Vinod' remained stalled at a village in the Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan for the past three days after the district administration imposed a ban on the project, officials said on October 28.

The shooting was to take place at Kuldhara village in Jaisalmer, some 600 km from Jaipur, but on complaints of possible tampering with this archeologically important location, the administration decided to impose the ban, a senior officer revealed.

A myth that Brahmins had cursed this village before leaving it over 250 years back has made this village popular as a ghost town. With no one living in the houses of the village, the place is visited by tourists from all over the globe.

Jaisalmer District Collector M.P. Swami said that they had received complaints of tampering with the site following which the permission for shooting was cancelled.

He added that there are complaints of the colour of houses in the village having been changed by the shooting crew and other tampering.

"A fact finding team from the archeological department has visited the village and will soon submit a report," said the officer.

Sources said some scenes of movie's climax were to be shot at Kuldhara village. (MASALA.COM)

Kareena Kapoor: 'I just want to be a movie star'

Kareena Kapoor has claimed that her parents did not oppose her appearing in Bollywood films.

The star is part of a dynasty of actors, including her sister Karisma and her first cousin Ranbir Kapoor.

She told the Hindustan Times: "I want to set the record straight. Because it was made out to be that my father was very against it. Yes, the Kapoor khandaan (family) girls never really joined films. But my father is extremely relaxed.

"I don't think he's ever told Karisma or me to not join movies. He says, 'If you want to go out there, you have to go out there and battle it out yourself.'"

Kapoor continued: "I have worked in some great and some really horrible films. But he's never questioned me. He said, 'Do what you want, but just don't make me cringe.'"

The Ra.One star added: "Somewhere I see a twinkle in my father's eye every time I call him to see a film or if he congratulates me for Madame Tussauds or when he calls me up to tell me he's happy for Bodyguard. So obviously I've done him proud."

In September, Kapoor said her success in films is down to luck rather than family connections.

Kareena unveiled at Tussauds

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Thursday unveiled her wax statue at the Madame Tussauds museum in Blackpool, Britain.
"It is an honour and a privilege for me to have my own wax figure at Madame Tussauds Blackpool and even more so to launch a global Bollywood exhibition. This is a moment of pride for the Indian cinema," Kareena said in a statement.

It took four months to create the wax statue, which cost 150,000 pounds.

"The figure looks incredible and is so life-like. I had to do a double take when I saw myself - they have really done a superb job at capturing my essence," she added.

The unveiling of Kareena's wax figure also flagged off a global exhibition, where the statues of Bollywood stars will be taken to six major cities around the world to be exhibited, before they are brought back to Blackpool in January next year.

Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai too have their wax figures in Tussauds'.(Mid-Day)

'RA.One' fails to impress

RA.One ¦a super-duper star playing a robot, a mighty overwhelming budget, path breaking (apparently) visual effects, a gorgeous villain and stunner of a heroine, promotions that almost elevated the film to a national event ¦in such circumstances what are the chances of it not being a fantastic watch? Well, surely there are. RA.One manages to stumble and falter, IN SPITE of all the crutches that it has been provided with.

Shekhar Subramaniam (Shah Rukh) is a Tamilian who is a gaming expert and also prefers speaking in his native language even though he is working in London. And he's not even consistent at that -- his romba (means 'lots' in Tamil) becomes ramba and rumba as per convenience. But you are a dodo if you expect consistency from this movie. Read more

Aishwarya's ready for her baby shower

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is in the eighth month of her pregnancy, and, so far, she has been hiding her baby bump pretty well. But today (October 18), things might be quite different. Reportedly, Ash will have her 'godh bharai' (baby shower) this evening, and it is expected to be a grand celebration.

Ash has also not really spoken about the pregnancy since it was announced by her pa-in-law Amitabh Bachchan on Twitter in June this year. It's been hubby Abhishek Bachchan who has responded to all the congratulatory messages and even referenced it in an ad for a mobile service provider he endorses (the ad focuses on controlling India's population through 3G services and Junior B is asked about his own baby in it).

Ash has drastically reduced her public appearances post pregnancy, and was only recently spotted at the Mata Ki Chowki at Sanjay Dutt's home as well as a Durga Pooja in Mumbai.

The baby shower today, being hosted by Ash's ma-in-law Jaya Bachchan, is set to be one amazing affair. It is believed that all of Bollywood's top stars will be at the Bachchan home - Prateeksha - for it. Read more
