Lady Gaga has been asked to embrace vegetarianism by animal rights campaigners ahead of her upcoming visit to India.
The Poker Face hitmaker, who famously wore a dress made of meat to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, is heading to India this weekend (29-30Oct11) to perform at the launch of the country's first Formula 1 race.
Officials at the Indian branch of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) have written to the singer urging her to shun meat during her visit, and they have also asked her to pose wearing a dress made of lettuce to help raise awareness of vegetarianism.
If she agrees, we'll make her a dress entirely of lettuce and held together by pins and threads. It will be a full length gown, and we'll make sure it looks sexySachin Bangera
A letter, obtained by Reuters, was written by PETA's Sachin Bangera and sent to Gaga's publicist.
It reads, "If she agrees, we'll make her a dress entirely of lettuce and held together by pins and threads. It will be a full length gown, and we'll make sure it looks sexy... Someone will be on hand to spray the lettuce with water so that it doesn't wilt".
